City of Wonju to Host Winter Light Festivals

WONJU, Dec. 21 (Korea Bizwire)In Wonju, Gangwon Province, a series of nightscape attractions are scheduled to open under the theme of “Fantastic Meeting of Nature and Light.”

Gonigol, a South Korean farming association corporation, will be hosting the fourth Gonigol Lights Festival at Yangjam Theme Park until February 6.

Visitors will be able to enjoy the night view decorated with nature and 4 million LED lights.

A total of 10,000 LED roses will welcome visitors at the entrance of the festival, which leads to 13 different zones with various themes including snowmen and Rudolph carts decorated with LED lights.

The Tunnel of Love is a hot spot for photos, and an 8-meter tall Christmas tree is a must-see.

Oak Valley Resort will be hosting the Sonata of Light festival on December 24.

Soomgil, a famous walkway known for its serene, tranquil environment, will turn into a stage of dancing lights every night, a 3D lighting show in the midst of beautiful nature.

Various pieces of media art will be showcased throughout five different zones. Visitors will be given white raincoats at the entrance, which will turn pink during the course of the exhibition.

The famous suspension bridge in Sogeum mountain will be open to the public at night between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. from December 22 to 25, to give visitors a chance to enjoy the beautiful night view decorated by surrounding lights.
