SEOUL, May 6 (Korea Bizwire) — BGF Retail Co., the operator of convenience store chain CU, announced Tuesday that all of the spots in the ‘Oak Tree of Hope’ program intended for CU store owners and management staff had been taken only five hours after registration opened.
The program involves growing an oak tree with a free kit given out by BGF Retail, with the intent to continue environmental activities discouraged by the recent coronavirus outbreak.
Participants will plant two or three acorns in a used plastic bottle or used ice cups.
Acorns that grew for more than six months at home will be transferred to a tree shelter in Seoul’s Noeul Park where they will grow into saplings destined for local forests.
