SEOUL, Sept. 2 (Korea Bizwire) — Online shopping sites are seeing rising demand for horticultural goods as an increasing number of people are developing kitchen gardens and weekend farms.
Online shopping mall Auction reported a 27 percent increase in sales of sickles, hoes, drying stands, and other horticultural goods between July 26 and August 25 compared to the same period last year.
Sales of sprinklers for larger gardens jumped by 148 percent, and sales of other watering equipment such as water level control valves also rose by 88 percent.
SSG.COM reported a 31 percent jump in sales of horticultural goods between July 27 and August 27. Sales of mowers and sprinklers jumped by 78 percent and 11 percent, respectively.
In the same period, 11st also reported a 30 percent sales jump in seeds and saplings, and a 57 percent sales jump in sickles, weed mats, and other horticultural goods.
The rise in demand is largely driven by the increasing number of people resorting to gardening to relieve the stress caused by the pandemic.
