SEOUL, April 20 (Korea Bizwire) – On Disability Day, over 2,000 people from 140 organizations, including the National Federation for the Solidarity Against Disability Discrimination (SADD), gathered near the presidential office in Seoul to demand the elimination of discrimination and hatred against people with disabilities. They called for a budget for people with disabilities for education, deinstitutionalization, and mobility rights.
The joint fighters stressed the urgent need for a budget for special transportation to address the issue of mobility for the disabled. A surprise subway-riding protest at Myeongdong Station caused delays for 25 minutes on the up line and 26 minutes on the down line. Tomorrow, they plan to board the subway at 8 a.m. in various parts of downtown Seoul before moving to City Hall for a final rally.
