SEOUL, Jan. 8 (Korea Bizwire) — Starting next month, so called ‘drive-through’ systems will allow residents of Jeju City to receive civil affair documents without having to exit their vehicle.
Jeju City is already constructing drive-through windows by the west wall of the city hall’s 5th annex building, and they will enter service in February.
Residents will be able to obtain 21 types of civil affair documents via the ‘drive-through’ service.
The documents, such as resident registration and family relation certificates can be obtained by simply showing personal identification.
Drive-through service has typically been used at fast food restaurants or coffee stands to speed up interaction with customers and help them to avoid having to park.
A drive-through system was first introduced in the city of Gwangju in 2015 for residents’ convenience. While Jeju City is the second to introduce a drive-through system, it is expected to expand the service to hospitals.
If it is applied to hospitals, residents will no longer have to visit a hospital in person for registration. For the disabled, the city plans to install unmanned civil service machines with tactile monitoring.
