SEJONG, Jan. 31 (Korea Bizwire) — The government plans to develop nature-friendly urban spaces by creating indoor plant landscape facilities, public city agricultural farms and rooftop gardens in 23 regions this year.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs on Thursday selected 23 local governments to participate in this year’s “urban agricultural space-building project.”
The project will be carried out in two forms: a project to create indoor plant landscape facilities at public facilities that local residents frequent, such as libraries, and a public farm project.
The selected local governments will be provided with support for the establishment of facilities, labor costs for management personnel and maintenance costs.
This year’s state funding is 1.2 billion won (US$1.01 million), with 50 percent coming from state coffers and 50 percent local governments, and up to 50 million won will be provided for each location by the government.
