SEOUL, May 20 (Korea Bizwire) — The Central Disease Control Headquarters said Thursday it will develop a big data platform for COVID-19 by December of this year.
The headquarters aims to create a big data platform that connects a variety of data related to the coronavirus that is scattered throughout multiple systems and use it to develop scientific, data-based quarantine measures against the pandemic.
Currently, periodic updates about daily and weekly infections and the number of vaccinations are being announced through press releases or online posts.
In order to carry out systematic research and analysis, however, base data should be organized for a time series analysis.
In response, the headquarters decided to integrate a variety of infection and vaccination data scattered throughout multiple agencies into a single big data platform.
The headquarters plans to create an online public dashboard for public use and an anonymous database for research and analysis.
The platform will then be expanded to cover other types of infectious diseases by 2024.
