SEOUL, Jan.22 (Korea Bizwire) – People can now help those in need while shopping or watching movies.
New and fun ways of helping others are being endorsed by corporations and local governments.
Women’s clothing brand Olivia Lauren announced that it will host an event in which customers who donate used clothes will be offered discounts.
A 50,000won discount on down jackets will be offered to customers who donate down jackets, coats or other outers previously purchased at Olivia Lauren.
The used clothing will be donated to the Beautiful Store, which is a non-profit social enterprise.
In the meantime, ramen noodles are being accepted at the movies in Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province.
With winter vacation approaching, the local government screened the movie ‘The perfect way to steal a dog’ at a social welfare center for teenagers, and was accepting donations of ramen noodles.
The event occurred over a period of two days, January 21 and January 22, to attract teenagers to participate in charitable activities.
A total of 80 people participated in the event, which was carried out for the first time.
The donated ramen noodles will be sent to senior citizens who live alone, or single-parent households.
Officials from the local government commented that the event would allow teenagers to have firsthand experience with charitable action, and they plan to continue the event.
