SEOUL, Feb. 6 (Korea Bizwire) – The internet’s most searched term for popular places in Seoul in the second half of 2014 turned out to be the Hongdae area. According to an analysis conducted by Cheil Data and Analytics Center on 258,000 search keywords input by 3,200 people, 29.8 percent of the search keywords about Seoul’s well known districts among searchers of all ages were regarding the Hongdae area.
Gangnam was the second most searched area on the internet, accounting for 12.9 percent, while 11.8 percent of search keywords were about Shinchon. Itaewon (10.3%) and Nonhyeon (7.0%) ranked fourth and fifth respectively. Garosu-gil, Sancheon-dong, Insa-dong, Bukchon and Sinsa-dong also featured in the top ten spots on the list.
Hongdae was the most popular search term for teenagers to individuals in their forties, while Itaewon was the second most searched term for teenagers. Koreans in their thirties were more inclined to search for Buam-dong and Yeonnam-dong, which are considered to be the hottest places in terms of tradition meeting modern values.
Koreans over forty were particularly fond of Samcheong-dong and Insa-dong. Haebangchon, Serosu-gil and neighborhood of Jangjinwoo restaurant, which are all rising as popular districts in Seoul, also made the list.
