SEOUL, Feb. 21 (Korea Bizwire) — The booming K-pop market has led to a significant sales boost of related products. Sales of cheering props, however, have dwindled due to the ongoing pandemic.
Ktown4u.com, an online shopping mall that specializes in sales of CDs of K-pop groups and their related goods, reported that sales of drama and film original soundtrack albums jumped from 2,624 in 2019 to 8,784 in 2020 and to a whopping 28,939 last year.
Sales of magazines starring various K-pop artists also jumped from 459.6 million won (US$385,600) in 2019 to 4 billion won last year.
Sales of cheering sticks rose from 73,135 sticks in 2019 to 88,459 in 2020. Last year, however, sales plunged to 15,971 sticks.
