SEOUL, Dec. 8 (Korea Bizwire) – KT announced on December 7 that it had signed-up 70,000 new Olleh GiGA Internet service subscribers in around one month, since it rolled out its new high-speed network on October 20. KT’s Olleh GiGA Internet, which is 10 times faster than existing services, combines GiGa Internet with the GiGA UHD TV service, enabling users to enjoy ultra high-definition content, with four times the resolution of existing full HD.
To promote the service, KT, Korea’s second-largest mobile carrier, plans to offer discounted prices on LG UHD TVs and PCs to new subscribers until March of next year. With the promotion, new subscribers can purchase an LG 42-inch UHD TV for 790,000 won, a discount of almost 50% compared to the retail price. Along with the discount, KT will also present LG Bluetooth headsets to those who purchase an LG UHD TV during the promotion period.
