SEOUL, Nov. 19 (Korea Bizwire) — With winter around the corner, sales of high-priced winter attire on home shopping channels are soaring.
According to industry sources, home shopping fashion broadcasts for this year’s fall and winter season are gaining popularity due to the appearance of products priced at more than 1 million won (US$858).
A long coat sold on Lotte Homeshopping, the TV shopping channel of South Korean retail giant Lotte, priced at 3.99 million won was the most expensive product of the season and sold out in September, generating 3 billion won in orders during a 60-minute launch show.
A “Zegna Cashmere Coat” for men, which was introduced on a home shopping channel for the first time this year, recorded 250 million won in orders for its launch broadcast.
Meanwhile, a long coat from the brand run by CJ O Shopping, the home shopping subsidiary of food and entertainment conglomerate CJ, priced at 1.39 million won, also received orders worth 1 billion won on only 29 minutes last month.
On the other hand, Hyundai Home Shopping is scheduled to showcase a mink coat priced at 19.8 million won and other items at its premium fashion brand to be launched later this month with designer Lie Sang-bong.
A CJ O Shopping official explained that “the home shopping industry has recently identified consumer demand for premium clothing as it operates many famous designer products at home and abroad.”
Furthermore, the official added that as the industry is competitive in price, materials and design, there is a growing possibility that it will grow into a channel for purchasing high-priced clothing.
