SEOUL, Aug. 31 (Korea Bizwire) — Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen and two vehicle importers will recall over 40,000 vehicles in South Korea for faulty parts, the transport ministry said Thursday.
This is the latest in a series of recall orders issued by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to both domestic and foreign carmakers.
The carmakers, which also include the importers of Kawasaki two wheelers and IVECO dump trucks, plan to recall 48 different models totaling 42,970 units. The models include Mercedes-Benz’s E 300 and the GLE350 d 4MATIC, Volkswagen’s Passat 2.0 TDI, Kawasaki’s VERSYS-X 300 ABS TOURER two-wheeler and IVECO’s AD410T45SR dump truck, the ministry said in a statement.
The problems cited are a faulty steering wheel in the GLE350 d 4MATIC model, drive shaft problems in the Passat 2.0 TDI sedan, and rear brake light problems in the Kawasaki two-wheeler, the statement said.
Starting Thursday, vehicle owners can visit designated repair and service centers to replace the parts free of charge, it said.
