Parcel War Rages as Chuseok Approaches

Parcel

SEOUL, Sept. 8 (Korea Bizwire) – Despite a prolonged economic downturn and Korea’s new anti-graft law, which prohibits the acceptance of gifts exceeding 50,000 won ($45) for public officials, journalists and private school faculty, parcel delivery companies are once again being flooded with Chuseok gifts.

Korea’s leading parcel delivery services, CJ Korea Express and Hyundai Logistics, have temporarily increased staff by 30 percent each to better meet the high demand. CJ Korea Express, in particular, expects the number of parcels transported to increase by 20 percent compared to last Chuseok.

Chuseok, the Korean Thanksgiving holiday, is the most important traditional holiday in Korea along with Lunar New Year.
