SEOUL, April 10 (Korea Bizwire) — The deadline is April 20 to apply for monthly stipends of 250,000 won that will continue to be issued until the recipient turns 18.
To be eligible for this benefit, the applicant must be a Seoul child of a low-income household who is 12 years old or younger and must either be diagnosed with asthma or is thought to have the respiratory condition.
Fifty-five recipients will be selected from the applicants for the stipends. Recipients will also be presented with portable fine dust measurement gauges and masks.
This marks the first time a municipality in South Korea is implementing what is an “environmental disease treatment project” for young asthma patients from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Participating parties in the project include green energy firm SK E&S, charity fund Community Chest Korea, Korea Green Foundation along with a Seoul city foundation devoted to public health.
