SEOUL, Oct. 6 (Korea Bizwire) – The New Politics Alliance for Democracy (NPAD) officially launched its ‘Budget Market of the People’ (http://npadmarket.kr), which is an online platform that buys ideas and suggestions about policy and budgets from the people to reflect them in parliamentary politics, on October 5.
On this day, a demonstration of the platform was held at the party leader’s conference room. Moon Jae-in, the representative of the party, demonstrated how the platform worked, and how ideas could be purchased.
Among the 351 ideas that were submitted beforehand, Moon selected an idea that suggested supporting young people who have not bought unemployment insurance with funds such as a job-seekers’ allowance.
Moon commented that the idea was a good way to offer young people better employment opportunities. “The opinion of the party is to provide young people with job-seekers’ allowance, but considering the current budget, I think that loaning the money like student loans and getting paid back after employment is more feasible.”
The price of suggestions starts at 10,000 won, and if many governors wish to buy the same idea, it goes to auction. The limit for the highest price is 500,000 won.
The NPAD plans to create a fund of 150 million won to buy ideas, and will select 100 businesses among the submitted ideas that require investment, and reflect them at the budget examination.
