SEOUL, March 7 (Korea Bizwire) — Last year, each Korean adult consumed liquor on an average of 8.5 days per month, with beer the beverage of choice, data showed Sunday.
The Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp. conducted a survey of 2,000 men and women between the ages of 19 and 59, which showed that the average Korean consumed alcohol on 8.5 days each month, down from the previous year (9 days).
The average amount of alcohol consumption was seven cups a day, the highest amount since 2017 (6.9 cups).
Most Koreans drank beer (42.2 percent), followed by diluted soju (25.4 percent), traditional liquor (20 percent), mixed drinks (5.4 percent) and imported wine (3.4 percent).
Beer consumption rose by 0.8 percentage points in proportion from last year while soju consumption dropped by 7.3 percentage points.
