SEOUL, Mar. 12 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Electronics Co. said Sunday it will further strengthen its audio business in 2018 after acquiring Harman Kardon two years ago to secure a new growth driver.
In March in 2016, the tech giant bought the U.S. audio company for 9.37 trillion won (US$8 billion).
Harman Kardon posted an operating profit of 60 billion won on sales of 7.1 trillion won for the whole of 2017. Samsung Electronics expects the audio business to report improved earnings results this year, as it will step up efforts to generate synergies between the audio and vehicle electro-electric systems businesses.
Harman Kardon is a leading player in core technologies in autonomous vehicles, telematics and security systems.
