SEOUL, Jul. 11 (Korea Bizwire) — Shinsegae Department Store is tackling July head on in a bid to boost revenue in what is typically the worst sales month of the year, by launching a series of mobile events and services.
The South Korean department store chain announced on Sunday plans to send shopping information to clients through its mobile application, while its AI-based recommendation system ‘S Mind’ will provide customized news catering to each customer’s shopping preferences.
During the holiday season, with a significant portion of the customer base out of reach of traditional marketing strategies, July has traditionally been seen as the month when sales are at their lowest in the South Korean department store industry.
Shinsegae’s effort to boost sales during the challenging month will see its credit card affiliates send text messages including coupons and giveaways to shoppers in the vicinity of Shinsegae Department stores, in an effort to attract more customers.
In collaboration with mobile wallet app ‘Syrup’, Shinsegae will also send vouchers for coffee drinks, gift cards and discount codes to app users, while another effort by the department store giant will encourage shoppers to stay longer at the store by offering mileage points depending on the length of their stay on the premises, which can later be exchanged for gifts.
