SEOUL, Dec. 20 (Korea Bizwire) – The Seoul city government held an awards ceremony on December 19 where a take-a-number dispensing app and a lost pet locator service took home the top prizes.
Six Sejong University students created the dispenser app for use at the Seoul Bamdokkaebi Night Market, a city attraction that brings out large crowds and subsequently results in long lines. The students’ product greatly reduced long and unnecessary waiting times. That it can be used not just at the night market, but in a variety of other heavily attended events won the app high marks of approval.
The lost pet locator service enables owners to file missing reports and access relevant online communities. It also provides information such as the location of animal shelters.
The awards ceremony was the culmination of a contest and exhibit for app makers organized by city officials. Starting in June, over 153 submissions were made over a five-month period.
