YONGIN, Sept. 9 (Korea Bizwire) — Jang-soon, the world’s ‘most fertile’ giraffe, celebrated her 35th birthday on Wednesday.
The zoo of the Everland amusement park in Yongin, south of Seoul, celebrated her birthday by presenting her with a cake made of carrots, hay, cabbage and sweet potatoes.
Born in 1986, Jang-soon turned 100 years old in human age, considering that the average lifespan of giraffes is between 25 and 30 years. She gave birth to a total of 18 offspring from September 1990 to September 2013.
The International Species Information System, a ‘Guinness Book’ for animals, listed Jang-soon as the giraffe with the most offspring in the world.
