SEOUL, Sept. 24 (Korea Bizwire) — BMW became this year’s most chosen car by Korean men, while Mercedes-Benz became the most popular choice for Korean women.
The Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association reported that private consumers in South Korea bought 123,079 imported cars between January and August of this year.
Among them, men bought 22,284 units of BMW models, 17,736 units of Mercedes Benz models and 5,938 units of Volkswagen model.
Women preferred Mercedes-Benz (11,746 units) more than BMW (7,731 units), while Mini ranked third (3,673 units).
Sorted by age, younger age groups tended to prefer BMW vehicles while older age groups preferred Mercedes-Benz.
In the case of BMW, consumers in their 20s bought 2,388 units, while those in their 30s bought 11,781 units and 40-somethings bought 9,837 units.
For Mercedes-Benz, in contrast, those in their 20s bought 1,327 units, compared to 7,628 units and 9,356 units for those in their 30s and 40s, respectively.
