SEOUL, Oct. 13 (Korea Bizwire) – Telecommunications giant KT announced on September 12 that it has teamed up with virtual reality content producer Barunson to hold a VR screening room at this year’s Busan International Film Festival.
Titled ‘VR Cinema in BIFF’, the screening room will show 23 short films. The daily schedule runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and each film will start on the hour.
Visitors can book seats on the first floor of the Busan Cinema Center at no charge. The screening room has no screen; instead, visitors are supplied with VR equipment.
A KT spokesperson said, “QR codes for smartphones are also being expected to be offered at the Busan Cinema Center so attendees can enjoy VR movies on their phones.”
The Busan International Film Festival opened on September 13 and will close on September 20. An annual event held at the famous Haeundae Beach in Busan, it is regarded as one of the most important film festivals in Asia.
