SEOUL, Oct. 21 (Korea Bizwire) — The southern resort island of Jeju has become the most popular destination for traveling with pets.
The Korea Tourism Organization and the Korea Consumer Agency analyzed Twitter and other social media posts, online news articles and data from map navigation service “T map” from January 2019 to June of this year to arrive at their conclusion.
Jeju was followed by Seoul, Busan and Gangwon Province.
In relation to where travelers stay with their pets, mentions about unshared accommodation facilities grew from 2 percent to 4 percent between 2019 and this year. Mentions about outdoor camping sites also grew from 5 percent to 9 percent.
In contrast, mentions about guesthouses dropped from 9 percent to 6 percent, likely due to rising preference for fully separated rooms following the coronavirus outbreak.
