Late Samsung Chairman’s Private Heart-shaped Island Gains Spotlight

YEOSU, May 3 (Korea Bizwire)Late Samsung Group chief Lee Kun-hee’s private real estate in the southern city of Yeosu, South Jeolla Province, is gaining spotlight as his family members have decided to donate artwork and real estate back to the public.

In February 2005, Lee purchased some 21,000 square meters of land near the west coast of Yeosu’s Gunghang Village, a small fishing town, and an additional 62,000 square meters of land including the uninhabited Mogae Island in December 2006.

This land was purchased under Lee’s name, and was subject to Lee’s considerable affection as he came to the city himself with his family to tour the properties.

Mogae Island is a heart-shaped island which became popular following Lee’s purchase.

Light aircraft tours around the island gained popularity among visitors to Yeosu.
