SEOUL, May 12 (Korea Bizwire) — Starbucks Korea said Tuesday that customers will be able to purchase no more than 20 special drinks for each order during the company’s Summer e-frequency promotions.
This measure is intended to prevent last year’s fierce competition which involved some customers hoarding drinks to win prizes.
Starbucks’ “summer ready bag,” a travelling suitcase released as last year’s summer prize, gained massive popularity among customers, who lined up outsides stores even before sunrise. Some customers bought 300 drinks on a single order to win the suitcases.
This year, Starbucks’ summer promotion will take place from May 11 until July 12. Each customer can win a prize for every 17 drinks they purchase.
The company will give away prizes to customers who made prior reservations on the Starbucks app to prevent people from flocking to stores.
