SEOUL, Jul. 29 (Korea Bizwire)Schools will implement a plan that allocates a space for students to create and display their YouTube content or webtoons.

The Ministry of Education on Sunday announced a plan to internalize school media education and strengthen related education support for aspiring content creators such as YouTubers and Webtoon writers.

The ministry plans to support schools that will create a space for production and experience in line with the school’s space innovation project, and distribute related teaching and learning materials next year.

In the long run, measures to include media education-related content in the revised curriculum and a measure to allow students to choose media-related subjects when the high school credit system is implemented will also be reviewed.

The ministry also plans to strengthen the local education network so that students in farming, mountain-side and fishing villages or those outside of school will not be left out of media education.

The ministry also plans to cooperate with relevant authorities to jointly operate mobile classrooms, such as experience buses, or increase the utilization of local media centers, while establishing a tentatively named region-based “media education center.”

These centers will form an on-site support group focusing on teachers with media education capabilities to develop educational content and share best practices.
