SEOUL, June 23 (Korea Bizwire)E-Mart24 Inc. said Tuesday that it is joining hands with Art Together, a group buying platform for artwork, to sell shares of ownership for “Running Women,” an art piece created by British artist Julian Opie.

The convenience store chain plans to divide ownership into 4,400 shares, and give out two shares to 2,200 people on a first-come, first-serve basis. Winners will receive information on the piece as well as the ownership certificate next month.

Each two shares will cost 20,000 won (US$17.58). Group owners can engage in a voting procedure to sell shares if more than 50 percent agree.

Profits generated from lending the artwork to department stores, hotels, and other locations will also be distributed among joint owners based on the number of shares they hold.

Via Art Together’s share exchange service, owners will be able to sell their shares like stocks.

Anyone can participate in the sale by purchasing designated goods and collecting five stamps on E-Mart24’s mobile application.
