SEOUL, Aug. 9 (Korea Bizwire) — Women in their 40s and men in their 60s attend the most divorce counseling sessions out of all age groups, data released by a provider of free legal consultation services showed.
The Korea Legal Aid Center for Family Relations reported that 59.8 percent of 73,432 counseling sessions conducted since March 2011 were attended by women.
Among them, 33 percent received counseling for divorce, followed by wills/inheritance (16.7 percent), adult guardianship (6.3 percent), and alimony/property division (5.2 percent).
Sorted by age, 27.7 percent of the women were in their 40s, followed by those in their 60s or older (27.1 percent), and 50-somethings (25.4 percent).
Men accounted for 40.2 percent of all counseling sessions. Among them, 26.6 percent received counseling for divorce.
Sorted by age, 34.3 percent of the men were in their 60s or older, followed by those in their 40s (25.5 percent), and 50s (22.6 percent).
Out of all counseling sessions carried out by the center, 89.7 percent of them were for legal counseling.
