SEOUL, Jun. 26 (Korea Bizwire) – The country’s three major telecommunications companies are making a significant presence at Quantum Korea 2024, a premier event bringing together quantum technology experts, academics, industry leaders, and the public to explore the latest research trends and international innovations in the field.
The event, held from June 25 to 27 at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, has become a focal point for showcasing advancements in quantum technology, with SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus all participating.
SK Telecom, operating the largest exhibition space among participating companies at 36 square meters, is presenting a range of quantum technologies including Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG), and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) chips.
The company is showcasing these innovations alongside members of X Quantum, a consortium of quantum technology and component firms, under the themes “AI and Quantum” and “Quantum in Daily Life.”
In a notable collaboration, network infrastructure giant Nokia has set up a display within SK Telecom’s booth, featuring its 1830 PSS packet and optical transmission network switching platform, which provides various signal switching capabilities in networks.
KT is presenting its exhibition under the theme “Quantum: The Key to the Future,” showcasing wired, wireless, and hybrid quantum cryptography communication solutions along with examples of commercial services.
The company is demonstrating its proprietary wireless QKD system, which successfully achieved a 2km transmission last year. KT also announced that it is developing technology for a 10km transmission, which would be the longest distance in South Korea.
Additionally, KT is exhibiting quantum cryptography communication services across various industries, including a Quantum Drone used for disaster response between local governments and military units, and a Quantum Autonomous Vehicle designed to defend against hacking threats to self-driving cars.
LG Uplus is introducing Alphakey, an integrated account management solution for cloud services. The company plans to offer a beta version of this technology, which can be linked with overseas services, free of charge until the end of this year.
