SEOUL, May 14 (Korea Bizwire) — Seoul city is planning to employ 1,000 citizens as animal rights monitoring agents until 2020, according to a statement presented at an open debate about animal rights on May 12.
The city is set to develop five more pet playgrounds in Seoul, achieve registrations of more than 600,000 pets, neutralize 10,000 stray cats, give seminars on animal rights for 50,000 citizens and employ 1,000 animal rights monitoring agents, until 2020.
The city will oblige animal sellers to be authorized to sell birds, amphibians and fish, in a bid to stop the influx of unauthorized animals in Seoul, and will also introduce other measures to prevent animal abandonment, while increasing funding for animal rights programs.
