Apple’s iPhone 6S emits the highest levels of radiation, followed by the LG G5 and Samsung’s Galaxy S7.
SEOUL, May 27 (Koera Bizwire) – A recent study has discovered that out of three best-selling smartphones in the market, Apple’s iPhone 6S emits the highest levels of radiation, followed by the LG G5 and Samsung’s Galaxy S7.
The National Radio Research Agency (RRA) in Korea conducted a study on the specific absorption rate (SAR) for 681 different electronic devices including smartphones and smartwatches.
An SAR refers to the amount of radiation absorbed by the human body, and is usually defined as the amount of power (watts) absorbed per kilogram of human body tissue. The higher the SAR, the greater effect it has on the body.
According to the RRA, the SAR for Apple’s iPhone was 1.15 W/kg, while the G5 had an SAR of 0.988 W/kg, and the Galaxy S7 came in at 0.551 W/kg.
Since August 2014, the Korean government has been assigning ‘grades’ based on the tested SAR, whereby a device is given Grade 1 if the SAR is below 0.8 W/kg, and Grade 2 if the SAR is between 0.8 and 1.6 W/kg, leaving only the Galaxy S7 as a Grade 1 device.
Among all of the 681 electronic devices, PREPIA’s Gold Phone had the highest SAR, and HTC’s Desire POP ranked second.
