SEOUL, June 21 (Korea Bizwire) – With an increasing number of consumers who have grown more careful and rational in their spending, newly-built apartments are offering various common facilities and services to reduce consumer burdens and maximize convenience.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction has implemented a car-sharing service at its latest apartment complex, Hill State Dongtan, for its residents. The service is offered at a lower cost than commercial rental cars, and the vehicles can easily be returned to a facility located inside the complex.
Similarly, Daewoo Engineering & Construction is offering a bike-sharing service at its new apartment complex in Ilsan. Residents who only cycle occasionally can rent out bicycles from the complex. The service also has the advantage of helping inhabitants of smaller apartments to save storage space in their homes.
Dongmoon Construction decided to operate Mom’s Academy, which provides lecture sessions that encourage women’s self-development and cultivation of hobbies, at its upcoming apartment complex in Pyeongtaek. The company is also providing a friendship community, Mom’s Café, and Mom’s Sauna, a female-exclusive bathhouse.
Lotte Engineering & Construction is helping residents at its latest rental apartment complex to establish a talent-sharing community in which inhabitants voluntarily offer services like counselling and medical consultation, as well as foreign language education.
Government rental housing complexes are also offering common facilities and services, such as communal laundry facilities, and there are plans in the works to coordinate with the Ministry of Gender Equality & Family to establish common childcare centers for residents.
“Apartment complexes have a high number of residents, and the idea of community can be easily established,” said Park Sang-eon, president of U & R Consulting. “Apartments provide the perfect environment to nurture such sharing services, and it’s likely that these communal facilities will become more commonplace in the future.”
