SEOUL, Aug. 2 (Korea Bizwire) – Tech website Techpinions said in April that the average iPhone user unlocks his or her screen about once every 10 minutes, or roughly 80 times a day. So which day is most popular when it comes to smartphone use?
Mobile application Cash Slide revealed Monday that people use their smartphones most on Fridays. Cash Slide is an application that allows users to unlock their smartphones after watching sponsored content such as news or advertisements. App users are then rewarded with points, which can in turn be used to make various purchases.
According to the company’s June statistics, Friday had the highest number of ‘screen unlocks’ with an average of 145.75 million swipes.
Interestingly, users swiped the least on weekends. Sunday ranked last with 127.38 million unlocks, following Saturday with 139.06 million. Weekdays were more evenly spread out ranging from 141.87 million (Thursday) to 142.41 million (Monday).
However, when looking at the late night or early morning hours from midnight to 4 a.m., Monday had the most screen unlocks at 17.27 million, followed by Sunday (17.06 million) and Saturday (14.75 million). Tuesday had the lowest average number at 14.21 million.
In terms of user response to Cash Slide’s sponsored content, people were more reactive to restaurant information on Thursdays and Fridays, while information on movies was more popular on Saturdays, and ‘latest news’, on Sundays.
“We’ll focus our efforts on developing more consumer-friendly content and services based on our analysis of smartphone usage patterns,” said an official from NBT, the company operating Cash Slide.
