Jeonju, Korea, August 01 (Korea Bizwire) – Jeollabuk-do will be hosting the ‘K-Food World Festival’ at Ilwon from August 12th to 17th. The international Korean food competition was planned in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and will be held in Jeollabuk-do, the mecca of Korean food.

10 contestants from around the world will be invited to compete in the event. Embassies and consulates in various countries held preliminary rounds to choose the 10 finalists to compete next month. Starting in Cairo, Egypt on June 22nd, the preliminary rounds were also held in the US, Mexico, Japan, China, Australia, France, the UK, Belgium, and Uzbekistan.

The ‘K-Food World Festival’ is not only about the cook-off. The festival will also feature a ‘K-Food Camp’ where the public can enjoy Korean foods made traditionally with the best local ingredients to experience the taste and healthiness of Korean foods. Furthermore, MBC will be videotaping the whole festival to be broadcast during Chuseok. Jeollabuk-do hopes that this will showcase not only the freshness of local agricultural products, but also the Creative Culinary Institute of Korea (CCIK), where the festival will be held.

A Jeollabuk-do official says, “We hope that the ‘K-Food World Festival’ will continue for many years with various different themes in the future. As the inaugural event, we are carefully preparing for the upcoming festival so that the ‘K-Food World Festival’ expands to become a world renowned international Korean food competition.”
