SEOUL, Jan. 25 (Korea Bizwire) — President Moon Jae-in’s supporters held a number of events in celebration of his 66th birthday yesterday, including keyword ranking and donation goals.
As part of a series of events, President Moon’s supporters made joint efforts to popularize ‘PyeongChang Olympics’ on the internet, resulting in the keyword dominating major search engines’ keyword rankings.
Moon’s ardent supporters also donated 6,600 won to the Democratic Party of Korea, a nod to Moon’s 66th party this year, prompting social media users to upload pictures of proof.
Earlier this month, advertisements appeared at subway stations across Seoul celebrating Moon’s birthday in advance, including Nowon, Jongno 3-ga, Gwanghwamun and Yeouido stations.
Some supporters of the president are taking a selfie with each advertisement to show off their loyalty and support.
One supporter went one step further, by paying for an ad in New York’s Times Square celebrating the South Korean president’s birthday, which appeared for four days in the run-up to Moon’s birthday.
While supporters celebrated Moon’s birthday in style, the president himself has reportedly told the staff not to do anything special.
One official at the Blue House said the president was planning to just have a meal with his family on his birthday.
