SEOUL, May 18 (Korea Bizwire) — Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on Monday that it will add 10 more eco-friendly nursery schools this year.
Eco-friendly nursery schools refers to daycare centers that prioritize outdoor activities over indoor activities, while placing more focus on nature experience and play activities.
Children can cultivate their own vegetable gardens and harvest seasonal foods. They also have more chances to experience the changes in nature through strolls and outdoor play.
At present, there are a total of 50 eco-friendly nursery schools in 10 districts. The city government plans to add 10 more this year, bringing the total number up to 60 in 12 districts.
For each eco-friendly nursery school, the city government plans to extend financial support of 2-5 million won (US$1,760-4,400) to help them establish vegetable gardens, walking paths and playgrounds.
The city government will also provide guidebooks on eco-friendly childcare, while supporting professional consulting.
