SEOUL, May 16 (Korea Bizwire) — With a growing number of Koreans choosing to focus on their work-life balance, particularly among office workers from the MZ generation (those born between the 1980s and 2000s), companies are setting out to provide more welfare benefits to employees.
Battery maker LG Energy Solution Ltd. introduced a “Healing Trip” program last Thursday and Friday to help employees relieve stress and relax.
A two-day program held at Mount Odae in Gangwon Province, the Healing Trip included a pilates course and stress relief programs.
Some 30 employees including those who worked overtime last month and those returning from long and short-term business trips participated in the program.
Samsung Electronics Co.’s digital appliances division announced that it will introduce a “G.I.F.T. Day” that stands for “Go home, It’s GIFT day, Find yourself, Take your time.”
On this day, all employees will stay away from departmental meetings or business events after 4 p.m., and get off work before 5 p.m.. Business dinners will also be prohibited.
SK hynix Inc., South Korea’s No. 2 chipmaker, introduced “Happy Friday” last month, which allows employees who have worked more than 80 hours over the previous two weeks to take the month’s third Friday off without having to submit a request for a leave of absence.
