SEOUL, April 14 (Korea Bizwire) – About half of South Koreans feel that a recent incident involving ChatGPT leaking a list of conversations it had with other users is a serious issue.
Local pollster THEPOL conducted a survey of 26,137 South Koreans, in which 48 percent said that ChatGPT’s recent leak of the list of conversations was a ‘serious problem’.
Respondents were concerned that there might be a risk of their privacy information or detailed conversation logs being leaked due to technical issues.
In contrast, 24.1 percent believed that the leak ‘wasn’t a problem’ since it only exposed the topics of the conversation and not the users, while 28 percent said that they were unsure.
Only 28.4 percent said that the incident, however, would divert a significant number of users away from ChatGPT.
At 39 percent, a significant proportion of the respondents said that the number of ChatGPT users would only increase, despite the incident, since the program is very useful, while 32.6 percent said they were unsure.
“Although the incident may be a warning not to reveal any personal information to ChatGPT, the number of users is expected to rise regardless of the incident since the program is becoming well-known for its utility in various office tasks,” said an official from the IT industry.
Only 25.1 percent of the respondents said they had used ChatGPT before.
