SEOUL, Feb. 19 (Korea Bizwire) – The Korean Occupational Safety and Health Agency announced a significant expansion of its in-depth health screening support program, starting from February 19, aimed at workers vulnerable to brain and cardiovascular diseases due to night shifts, long hours, or advanced age, such as security guards, taxi and bus drivers, and delivery personnel.
This initiative will cover 80% of specialized screening costs and the full cost of health consultations at 55 designated medical institutions nationwide, addressing conditions that are difficult to diagnose with regular health check-ups.
Eligibility for this program extends to workers in businesses covered by industrial accident insurance who are at high risk of developing brain and cardiovascular diseases due to underlying conditions like hypertension, dyslipidemia, obesity, night work, or being aged 55 and above.
This year, the scope of the program has been broadened to include workers with extended working hours, and the number of beneficiaries has been increased from 15,000 last year to 20,000. Workers who undergo these comprehensive health screenings will also have access to free health promotion programs at 45 Workers’ Health Centers across the country.
Additionally, those in immediate need of treatment following their diagnosis will be guided to major hospitals for further care.
