Seoul, July 8 (Korea Bizwire) — Kolon FnC has announced that they will be running a industry-academic cooperation program with the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), which is one of the most prestigious fashion institutes in the world. The project will be named “2015 FIT Summer Program”, and will be the first industry-academic cooperation attempt in the field.
34 young people interested in fashion will gather in 5 teams, learning at the Fashion Institute of Kolon (FIK) for 6 days starting on June 13.
Participants will hail from different countries, and have different educational backgrounds. They will work with struggling products from Kolon FnC’s five brands, Lucky Chouette, Couronne, Custom Mellow, Club Cambridge, and Henry Cotton. Under the theme of ‘Rebirth’, the students will participate in product planning, product design, store display, marketing, and will suggest strategies to enhance the brand and the products.
The faculty of FIT will give lectures and offer mentoring, providing high-class fashion education based on actual practice.
On June 18, which is the last day of the program, each team will be judged on a final team presentation and final product. A winner will be selected, and all participants will receive a certificate issued by the FIT.
Ideas and creations that are highly regarded will go through a review process, and might actually applied in the management of the brands.
Oh Won-sun, the executive director of Kolon FnC says, “We will be providing a special opportunity to youth interested in fashion. They will be able to learn high-class New York fashion right here in Korea. We anticipate new and creative output from the participants, who are from different countries and have different backgrounds.”
The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) was founded in Manhattan, New York in 1994. It is one of the most prestigious fashion institutes in the world, producing top designers such as Calvin Klein, Michael Kors and David Choo.
