SEOUL, Sept. 4 (Korea Bizwire) – A hospital in Seoul’s Seocho district has captured public attention with its unconventional employee benefits, including vacation time and celebratory payments for divorced staff members.

The unique workplace policies of this hair transplant clinic were featured on MBC’s reality show “The Manager” on August 31, offering a glimpse into a corporate culture that defies traditional norms.

Han Sang-bo, the hospital’s director, has implemented several distinctive welfare programs. Each floor of the hospital is equipped with a corporate credit card in his name, available for staff use without spending limits. These cards can be used for lunch expenses and team dinners.

“Employees can take the cards with them after their shift,” the hospital’s head nurse explained. “There’s no spending limit. The director encourages us to buy the best, most expensive, and delicious food. He provides the card for team dinners but doesn’t attend himself.”

The hospital’s family-oriented benefits extend beyond meals. Employees planning family trips receive 1 million won to cover airfare and accommodation costs. “Family harmony is the highest virtue,” Han emphasized.

We provide cards for parents’ birthdays, family gatherings, and trips. It costs about 20 million won a month.”

He added, “Since we can’t offer high salaries, we try to support employees in other ways. We even provide cards for hairstyling or nail care, hoping they can save money to buy a house.”

Perhaps the most eyebrow-raising benefit is the “divorce celebration” policy. The head nurse revealed, “The director doesn’t attend employee weddings but gives a congratulatory payment. Whether it’s for marriage or divorce, he gives 2 million won. Divorced employees also receive two weeks of vacation.”

“Marriage isn’t something to celebrate. It’s a system with many drawbacks. I think divorce is okay,” said Han, explaining his unconventional stance. This philosophy underpins the hospital’s unique approach to employee welfare.
