SEOUL, Oct. 13 (Korea Bizwire) — SK Gas, a key energy affiliate of energy and telecom conglomerate SK Group, said Wednesday it had developed a new artificial intelligence (AI)-based system that anticipates and simulates the yield of chemical processing, and introduced it to its subsidiary SK Advanced Co.
The company is the first to use AI technology to create a system to anticipate yield and simulate the chemical process.
SK Gas also developed a yield forecast simulator, engineer analytics tool and AI-based error detection system to optimize the propane dehydrogenation (PDH) process.
The AI system, which integrates the three aforementioned functions, offers a forecast simulation based on the analysis of correlations between various factors that influence the chemical process to optimize the efficiency of the process.
For instance, it is capable of designing detailed production plans based on market conditions to control operations and estimate the appropriate time to replace the catalyst used in the PDH process to minimize the potential cost of replacement.
SK Gas plans to use the system to jump into new business areas related to processing solutions and gain a presence through intellectual property rights sales.
