SEOUL, Korea, August 09 (Korea Bizwire) – The Seoul city government took its first step to provide treatment to firefighters suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. A total of 69 firefighters have participated in the ‘Open-air Healing Program’ at Yangpyeong in Kyunggi Province from July 25 to August 7. They have joined a program composed of several parts; an arboretum visit, hiking, smile therapy, group talk, and rafting for building team work under extreme situations.
Bae Minji, who has been working as a firefighter for two years, expressed contentment of the program. She said that she has been suffering from psychological trauma after watching someone kill himself.
The head of the Seoul Metropolitan Fire and Disaster Headquarters promised to expand the program for firefighters affected by PTSD so they can provide better services to Seoul citizens.
