BUSAN, Nov. 2 (Korea Bizwire) — Starting from next year, the city of Busan will distribute smart devices for free on a one on one basis to all of the city’s middle and high school students and elementary students above fourth grade.
The Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education said Monday that it will distribute 188,000 digital devices for education use to about 600 elementary, middle and high schools throughout the city during the period from March to December 2022.
The smart devices will be distributed first to fourth-grade students at elementary schools and first-year students in middle and high school in March, while the remaining students will be given the devices in the latter half of next year.
On Thursday, the education office signed a business agreement with major publishing firm Woongjin Thinkbig Co. and education startup Classting to offer education tailored for each level of elementary school through an artificial intelligence (AI)-based mathematics educational program.
The education office will also supply AI-based mathematics learning programs to middle and high schools.
By using an AI-based student history management function, teachers can make use of the data when planning their classes and offer customized education.
The Busan education office is scheduled to sign an agreement with IT service provider LG CNS Co. for free supply of an AI-based English education program next month and start distributing the AI-based English learning program to all of the city’s middle and high schools from next year.
