SEOUL, July 29 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Electronics Co. said Thursday it will officially launch Repair Mode service to ensure that personal information is kept private for Galaxy smartphone users.
In this mode, personal data such as photos, messages and accounts are inaccessible and only basic applications are accessible.
Users can activate the new mode by selecting the ‘battery and device care’ menu in the smartphone’s settings and choosing Repair Mode tab.
Once this process has been completed, Repair Mode is activated after a system reboot.
Users can end the mode by rebooting their phones through fingerprint recognition.
Samsung noted that this function is designed to completely prevent personal information from being compromised by enabling users to selectively open the data when they hand over their smartphone to private repair shops.
The company plans to apply Repair Mode starting from the Galaxy S21 series and later expand it to other Galaxy models.
