SEOUL, May 30 (Korea Bizwire) — Unlike in the past, when South Korea’s major companies used to organize group events like sports competitions and hiking trips to boost employee morale and foster unity, they now promote a range of unique events to enhance employee satisfaction.
Shipbuilding group HD Hyundai Co. hosted a fashion show last week at its new headquarters in Pangyo, located south of Seoul, with the participation of approximately 800 employees.
The fashion show featured not only models but also employee participants, adding an element of fun and amusement to the event. Chung Ki-sun, president and CEO of HD Hyundai, also took a seat in front of the runway.
During a weekday lunchtime last month, the garden in the headquarters building witnessed the unexpected arrival of six mini excavators weighing 1.7 tons and 3 tons, along with food trucks.
This special event was organized by HD Hyundai Infracore Co., the construction equipment unit of HD Hyundai, to celebrate the 100th day since the launch of its new brand, DEVELON.
Moreover, this event simultaneously took place at various business sites across the country, including locations in Incheon, Gunsan, and Ansan.
Businesses also arranged events where they invited employee families to visit the workplace during the first Family Month following the lifting of COVID-19 social distancing rules.
Samsung Electronics Co. extended an invitation to about 55,000 family members of its employees and subcontractors to its campus in Suwon, 45 kilometers south of Seoul.
Similarly, SK Innovation Co. recently opened the SK Group headquarters building in Jongno, central Seoul, for a two-day visit to approximately 2,000 employees and their family members.
“Utilizing office space not only as a workplace but also as a venue for cultural activities can lead to higher satisfaction among employees and their family members,” an industry watcher said.
