SEOUL & JEJU, June 25 (Korea Bizwire) — The arrival of the rainy season is imminent on the Korean Peninsula, with Jeju Island expected to be the first to face its impact. Anticipated to continue until tomorrow, starting on Sunday, Jeju Island is projected to receive an estimated 500 millimeters or more of rain.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, a typical stationary front associated with the rainy season is currently extending from Shanghai, China to Jeju Island. A well-developed rain cloud system is moving northward toward Korea.
This year’s rainy season, which initiated on Jeju Island, is anticipated to expand across the country, with Seoul and the capital region expected to face heavy rainfall during Monday morning commutes.
As the rainy season commences, citizens are actively preparing by acquiring rain boots and umbrellas, while major retailers are introducing relevant products to meet the demand.
