SEOUL, June 26 (Korea Bizwire) — Art exhibitions are gaining popularity this year, with thousands of South Koreans flocking to art museums for large-scale exhibitions.
The art industry reported that Maurizio Cattelan’s solo art exhibition at the Leeum Museum of Art in Seoul has been visited by 210,000 people since its opening in January.
“Joseon White Porcelain: Paragon of Virtue,” held at the same art museum free of charge from February 28 for three months, was also visited by 100,000 people.
An exhibition of Edward Hopper’s works, which has been held at the Seoul Museum of Art since April, has been visited by approximately 188,000 people as of June 22.
“Barriers against art galleries have been breaking down, particularly towards modern contemporary art, contributing to the increasing number of visitors,” an art industry official said.
