SUWON, March 3 (Korea Bizwire) — The Gyeonggi provincial government on Wednesday launched a blockchain-based online artist video platform.
The new platform, dubbed “Gyeonggi ArtOn,” is designed to protect artists’ ownership of digital content from their performances, as well as to promote the fair distribution of profits generated from this content.
By using non-fungible token (NFT) technology to verify the authenticity of the digital content, Gyeonggi ArtOn can ensure fair distribution of profits for artists who have ownership of performance content.
After registering performance videos of the artists residing in the province in the areas of music, dance, theatre and traditional art, the Gyeonggi Art Center ensures that the ownership of the content belongs to the artists concerned in an NFT format.
The profits generated when viewers watch or buy the content are distributed fairly to the artists.
At present, as many as 230 performances from about 110 art groups are registered.
